Last few days have been beautiful. Spent a lot of time in the garden reading.
Just been out Geocaching with Julia and the boys - successfully found 2 caches today including one with 7 clues to solve (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=9c87c970-3ecf-431d-a1f3-cde8abf36456). Pick up a "Travel Bug" that you have to move to a different cache. A great walk around South Wingfield although you can't help looking rather suspicious whilst rooting around in the undergrowth.
Peter and Morgen from Aylesbury Rotaract are visiting tomorrow.

We also went geocaching yesterday. Well at least we filled in an hour before a kids party near Chelsea / Fulham. Unfortunately the cache seemed to be missing unless I was being dim. The clue and GPS seemed accurate enough. We'll probably try another today on Ham Common also by the Thames which is a short walk from here.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about looking shifty trying to find them. You have to tap your foot, look in the air and whistle until the coast is clear.
Geocaching is more catchy than the Swine Flu virus. The caches can be very well hidden and extremely small, plus the GPS on the iPhone does not seem hugely accurate. You just have to keep looking. My brother's brother in law found one that was disguised as the inspection cover of a lamppost - now that is sneaky. Good Luck!!
ReplyDeleteWe found 3 caches on Saturday between Teddington Lock and Kingston. One was a magnetic one stuck under a park bench/table. Unfortunately there were four tables, 3 empty and a family sat round the other with a full picnic laid out. After skirting around them for a while with my iphone, I had to send Mikey in to explain that he needed to go under their table to look for something! They weren't too impressed or convinced, especially when he didn't find anything. I sent him back under and he found it to save our blushes.
ReplyDeleteWe found the 2 on Saturday, then had our first failure on Sunday. However I went back on Monday and found it. There is one real cache in a hotel in Vegas (most the others are virtual caches) but the place is so busy it may be tough to find. Looking forward to finding a few in Philadelphia and have a Travel Bug to leave behind.
