Monday's meanderings

The recommendation of the GP on Thursday was to go for physiotherapy on my back – to be honest I was hoping for something more immediate (and Pharmaceutical!) as a cure. Just called the Physio department and made an appointment for Christmas Eve (the soonest one they had).

Had some sad news on Thursday that one of my Uncles on my Mum’s side of the family had passed in his sleep overnight Wednesday. Uncle Nobby was a smashing old boy who was nearly 80 and had led a pretty full life. The night before he died he had been out down the pub with one of his grandsons as per a normal Wednesday evening, he just never woke up the next morning. I gotta say that a quick and peaceful passing is probably the best way to go.

Played snooker on Friday with Jeff and Clive. It was only as we ate our lunch in the pub beforehand that Clive admitted to being Morley Police snooker champion 1974! We won’t dwell much more on this but I must admit to finishing 3rd of three!

Tom, Al and I went to the Peterborough match on Saturday and enjoyed a decent Posh performance to draw 2-2 with Middlesbrough having been behind twice in the game. A real bonus yesterday was that Posh were drawn to play away at Tottenham in the 3rd round of the FA Cup on the 2nd/3rd January – assuming we can get tickets it will be great to take the boys to a premiership ground to watch Peterborough.

Alex’s team had a pretty good result by recent standards….the game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch….so we had a quiet Sunday finished off nicely by a roast dinner at Jeff and Pauline’s.

All sounds good. I was hoping to be over before the end of the year- but it may be early 2010. I will bring some 'drugs' for the back pain. Ive always found that several bottles of red will do the trick.
